Team Lead / phone

Loves helping people!

Hi, I’m Sandra, originally from Galway City but live in Dublin. My background is in Information Technology and I thrive in helping people.
I joined Covid19Tech so I can help people with their Tech issues and I find it really rewarding knowing that I can help the person on the other end.

Roisin Lavelle

phone volunteer

I’m Roisin, and I live near the sea on the Wild Atlantic Way. I love to keep in touch with people around the world. I’m retired from full-time work now, but I continue to do training in I.T. and other skills. I’m delighted to be volunteering with Covid19Tech because I think it’s really important that nobody should have to feel alone, unless they really want to be alone like Marlene Dietrich!

Ger O'Donovan

phone volunteer

I'm Ger - Love music - as Miles Davis said "It's not the notes it's the spaces in between" - that is music.
Over 40 years experience in IT from IBM mainframes to Samsung smartphones. When this virus struck I wanted to help. As I hate the sight of blook, I had to fall back on me Tech experience to make a contribution. Covid19Tech has provided me a platform to do this.

WHY VOLUNTEER?

You take out your phone, swipe left, across, down and across again, then go straight to your contacts, click on the alphabet bar on right hand side and Select M, then scroll down, select and call your buddy Mary.

It takes you 7 seconds.

This is easy for you, but for those who just received a smartphone, it is not intuitive, it is not familiar and yet it is core to securing their phone and to making a call.

Just knowing that ensures you can make a difference. Apply the same concepts to PCs, laptops and tablets, and for remainder of cocooning and “after Covid”, there is a new sense of urgency in helping our older citizens to be tech savvy.

You probably know a lot more about tech; if you are an IT professional, and even more on how to help if you are on a helpdesk. But whether you are a Helpdesk Hero or an Admin Angel, you can help.

Every call makes a difference, some are life-changing for the callers. The people who call us could be your Mother or Father, your grand-parents, your aunt or your uncle. Help them and feel you have made a difference today - Volunteer!
